DNS History

The DNS History page shows a timeline of DNS record changes for a domain. Access it from the gear menu on the Domain Overview page.

What It Shows

Palisade periodically snapshots DNS records for your monitored domains. The DNS History page lets you browse these snapshots to see exactly when and how records changed.

Filtering

By Record Type

Filter snapshots to show changes for specific record types:

  • SPF
  • DMARC
  • BIMI
  • MX
  • DKIM
  • NS

By Date Range

Select a time window to narrow results. Options range from 14 days to 60 days.

Viewing Changes

Each snapshot entry shows:

  • Date and time of the snapshot
  • Record type that changed
  • Record value at that point in time

Click on a snapshot to open a detail view. When comparing consecutive snapshots, a diff view highlights exactly what changed between them — making it easy to spot unintended modifications or confirm that an update took effect.

Use Cases

  • Audit trail — track who or what changed DNS records and when
  • Troubleshoot regressions — identify when a working configuration was broken
  • Verify propagation — confirm that DNS changes have taken effect
  • Detect drift — spot unauthorized or accidental DNS modifications
