Updating your Hosted DMARC Record
Manage your DMARC policy directly from the Palisade dashboard without logging into your DNS provider.
What is Hosted DMARC?
Palisade offers Hosted DMARC -- a CNAME-based DMARC record that delegates policy control to Palisade's servers. Instead of a traditional TXT record that you edit at your DNS provider, your DNS contains a CNAME record pointing _dmarc.yourdomain.com to Palisade.
This means all policy changes are made in the Palisade dashboard and take effect instantly, without touching your DNS provider.
How It Works
- Your DNS has a CNAME record:
_dmarc.yourdomain.compoints to Palisade's DMARC hosting servers. - When an email receiver queries your DMARC record, the CNAME resolves to the policy that Palisade serves on your behalf.
- When you update the policy in Palisade, the change propagates instantly -- no DNS TTL delays.
Updating Your Hosted DMARC Record
- Navigate to the Manage DMARC page for your domain.
- Adjust the settings:
- Policy slider -- Move between
none, quarantine, andreject. - Advanced options -- Configure subdomain policy, percentage, reporting addresses, and alignment settings.
- Policy slider -- Move between
- Click Update to publish the changes.
Changes take effect immediately since the CNAME is already in place.
Benefits of Hosted DMARC
- Instant propagation -- Policy changes are live as soon as you click Update. No waiting for DNS TTL expiration.
- No DNS provider login needed -- Manage everything from the Palisade dashboard.
- Version history -- Palisade keeps a record of policy changes so you can track what was changed and when.
- Reduced risk of errors -- The dashboard validates your settings before publishing, preventing syntax errors in TXT records.
